Can you suggest any activities or things to do while staying in the Ripon area?

North Yorkshire is England's biggest county and Ripon, one of country's smallest cities, is right in the middle of it. A day exploring Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Dales, either driving, cycling or walking, is a must, and food for the soul. Mallard Grange is within walking distance of Fountains Abbey & Studley Park UNESCO World Heritage Site and there are historic houses and gardens such as Newby Hall and Ripley Castle, country shows and local craft workshops nearby. Smart shops and tea at Betty's in Harrogate are just a 20 minute drive away. Ripon Races are close, for those that fancy a flutter and llama trekking, walking, horse riding, park runs and cycling are all easily accessed.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Guests breakfast together around a large table in the farmhouse dining room, usually between 8.30 a.m. to 9 a.m., or ealier on request.

*  The breakfast menu is a feast, packed with local specialities, and offering a wide choice to suit different tastes and special gluten free and vegetatrian diets.

*  Great choice from a sizzling full monty, Whitby Kippers, smoked haddock or salmon and fresh eggs from hens roaming the farmyard, along with homemade marmalade, jam and honey from Maggie's bees.

*  For guests who would prefer it, a lighter, continential style breakfast can be enjoyed in the privacy of their bedroom.  Simply choose from the special menu the night before.

*    Yorkshire has a great reputation for producing good food and good beer! Ripon's a 5 minute drive away, with a very good choice of places to eat. Alternatively, there are some excellent country inns within a 3 mile radius.
