Mallard Grange - a unique and authentic North Yorkshire farm B and B experience This is an example of a real working farm in the beautiful area of Ripon, North Yorkshire, very close to the heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal. The rooms are tastefully decorated in country living style; with particular attention to detail. The beds are very comfortable, en suite bathrooms modern and immaculate, with wonderful countryside views from the windows. Fresh garden flowers add a personal touch and the hostess bakes beautiful sweet treats daily to complement the tea and coffee and water always available in the rooms, even fresh refrigerated milk is provided each day. The breakfasts are wonderful, with lots of choice to meet individual preferences of guests, including platters of prepared fruits, cereals and fresh juices. The cooked ingredients for a full Yorkshire breakfast are wholesome and fresh and locally sourced, provenance is detailed on the menu. Divine tasting eggs come from the farm chickens enjoying a free range existence, as seen by guests daily. The hostess is a brilliant cook who makes these delicious breakfasts on her Aga in the farm kitchen. Maggie Johnson and her family are warm, charming and courteous; they show genuine friendly interest in all of their guests. They are extremely knowledgable about this area of Yorkshire, and make helpful suggestions about places to visit and eat, offering background information and entertaining anecdotes on many subjects, making guest feel comfortable, valued and special. Maggie recommends places to eat locally and offers to make bookings for guests, nothing is too much trouble for her and she makes time for every guest staying at the farm. If you go to North Yorkshire and stay at Mallard Grange you will get a glimpse of the most beautiful and varied county in the North of England; your experience as a guest here will be a real joy, as it has been for several visits for my husband and I,, and as fellow Yorkshiremen we are not easily impressed!

A wonderful Yorkshire experience The experience of staying on a centuries-old working farm with 21st-century comfort made my stay at Mallard Grange one of the highlights of my trip. Maggie Johnson provides just about anything her guests could need or want so that they can focus on relaxing and enjoying the countryside. She is a wealth of information about the area, and also very funny! My en suite room was spacious beyond my expectations. At the communal breakfast table I met friendly and interesting fellow guests who return year after year. I hope that I, too, will return, and recommend Mallard Grange highly to you.

Just the tonic! After the first few minutes of being greeted on our arrival at Mallard Grange, it felt like we were visiting old friends. Maggie is a lovely lady and a fabulous host. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed every moment, our room was beautiful, crisp white bed sheets, lovely ensuite, very comfortable and very quite. Breakfast was an absolute delight, home made and locally sourced produce, engaging conversation with all the other guests, a great start to the day. Thank you Maggie and your wonderful team for making our stay so pleasurable, we will be back!

Excellent stay We were warmly welcomed by Maggie and had a wonderful two night stay in the shed which is super comfortable and spacious. Always nice to have fresh milk with your tea too. Maggie is a lovely hostess and the breakfast is a companionable affair meeting and chatting with fellow travellers. The food is excellent and you can choose any combination of a breakfast plus homemade jams ! A great base for exploring Ripon and Fountains abbey and the Dales. Don't miss the Hornblower at 9pm every evening in Ripon market square- a tradition dating back over 1100 years
