Lawn Cottage

Lawn Cottage is a charming 18th century stone cottage in the middle of Stour Row near Shaftesbury in the heart of the lovely Blackmore Vale which is famous for the Thomas Hardy connection. The cottage which has a very pretty garden (vegetables in raised beds grace the front lawn) and the interior is delightfully and comfortably furnished with antique furniture, porcelain and bright kelims and paintings. The bedroom is newly built with a very comfortable, large double bed and two armchairs and is simply but prettily decorated with toile de jouy. The huge aga kitchen is set up for breakfast which is customised to your requests. Freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade marmalade and blackcurrant jam and homemade muesli are always on the menu. A recent addition is The Shepherd's Hut, situated just behind the cottage in the field, simply but very comfortably furnished with electricity or woodburner and candles it is a lovely romantic and cosy bedroom. Ideal for a night or two away in summer or midwinter. Breakfast in the cottage or a hamper in the hut!
