" Cuckooland, Tabley, Cheshire

The collection of cuckoo clocks at Cuckooland are regarded as the most important in the world. It was brought together by horologists and clock restorer brothers Roman and Maz Piekarski who began restoring timepieces at the tender age of 15 and have grown their interest into a fascinating assortment of clocks including a rare cuckoo and echo clock which, with the help of bellows and whistles, makes realistic cuckoo noises. The setting, the accommodation and the welcome from the owners make this the perfect place to relax and unwind. Add to this superb breakfast and the treatments offered by Rose (I enjoyed an aromatherapy massage which was simply wonderful) makes it idyllic. Cannot wait to return in February, already booked.

Absolute perfection. and a slice of heaven. Superb and faultless service, Rose is the perfect host. The retreat, views, service and breakfast is outstanding. A log fire was burning on arrival and instantly felt at home. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely amazing weekend! From the moment my partner and I arrived we were welcomed by our host for the weekend, Rose, who throughout attended to our every need. After a brief unpacking we headed off to the local for food and drink and having abandoned the car in the car park that night (with the landlords consent!), the following morning we walked to the pub with directions from Rose to collect the car.

A particular highlight on Saturday morning was the breakfast cooked individually and upon request by Rose using very high quality products and to a high standard (my partner and I particularly enjoyed the oatcakes and granola to the extent that they have been added to this weeks shopping list!).

Later that day my partner had a Reiki treatment from Rose to de-stress and it did the trick and relaxed her to the point of sleeping despite her initial skepticism! After the afternoon nap we went into nearby Congelton before returning to sit in front of the log fire to completely relax. Again, the morning after, we enjoyed a fabulous breakfast before checking out and ending our perfect weekend.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough; the accommodation is perfect and immaculate, the location convenient, the staff amazing and for value for money it is unrivalled. I strongly suspect we'll be back very soon.

Very warm friendly welcome, lovely accommodation, beautiful views, good fresh food. Welcomed us and our visiting cousins for tea and biscuits on two occasions. Certainly up to 5 star status.

Accommodation is excellent - consists of a large bedroom, large sitting room, large bathroom with bath and power shower and a garden room, all furnished and decorated to a high standard. The view from the garden room is fabulous! Rose is a great host and serves an excellent breakfast. A peaceful, relaxing location.

What a perfect country retreat! Sitting in your own private garden room, looking out over the beautiful rolling hills, peace and quiet at its best! Enjoy a relaxing aromatherapy massage, a soak in the gorgeous bath, light the fire and chill! A fantastic 6* B & B. Thank you.

A very comfortable stay, and attention to detail, beautiful accommodation, peaceful, excellent breakfast. The host most helpful, plenty to see around the area, walking too, we were told about local restaurants. A most relaxing holiday accommodation, beautiful en-suite, lounge, garden room, king size bed, all to yourselves, what could be better. Top marks for the hots. Definitely return.

Review of Ladderstile Retreat

Looking after our granddaughter for the weekend we decided to spend a quality weekend away. Our Internet search lead us to Britain's Finest and in turn to the idyllic Ladderstile Retreat. Once found I always check out our choice on Trip Advisor prior to booking however Ladderstile was not listed on T.A. I have since discovered T.A. Do not list establishments with only 1 bedroom. Ladderstile looked so picturesque and cosy. I went ahead and booked. Ladderstile was such a treasure of a find. We were totally spoiled by Rose who had a cosy log fire burning in the beautiful lounge in readiness for our arrival.

The accommodation is very cute and homely, you enter through your own front door into your own sun lounge. The sun lounge has the most amazing views of open countryside and distant peaks which during our stay were snow capped. From here you can also watch the large array of wildlife, nuthatches, jays, squirrels etc and of course the resident hens and sheep. The sun lounge then leads through double doors into your lounge which is well equipped with books music and film DVDs, TV/music centre, games, binoculars etc. The bedroom is big and well appointed with a fridge filled with bottled water and a jug of fresh milk, there is a kettle with a choice of teas, coffee and chocolate, the bathroom has underfloor heating and is equipped with separate rain shower as well as a bath. Everything you could ever require Rose has thought of. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and well thought out. Rose and Peter kindly gave our 4 year old granddaughter a personal guided tour of the farm. She was lucky enough to see an unexpected new born lamb and Rose let her gather the fresh eggs from the hen house. We will be revisiting very soon and hopefully enjoy some walking followed by some holistic treatments.
