A belated wedding anniversary visit as we couldn't make it on the exact day but it didn't matter as we always enjoy our "treat in the north". As usual everything was as expected.....faultless, if you have never experienced the peace and tranquility of this part of the world you are missing out big time. I f you can live with the odd sheep baa, the odd woodpecker pecking and the very occasional fox walking past you like you don,t exist then you like me will fall in love with this place. It was no trouble at all for them to make restaurant reservations and upon arrival we were given tea/coffee and cake in the lounge which was such a nice touch. The breakfasts were also delicious...

We were met at the door and made to feel welcome, given a tour of downstairs and then shown to the Chillingham room. The room was gorgeous, very comfortable and cosy, with everything you would need, including a fridge, hairdryer (with diffuser which was very useful for my curly hair :-)), beautiful bathroom and luxurious bath products. The bed was so comfortable that we both had such a...
