Reviews

A belated wedding anniversary visit as we couldn't make it on the exact day but it didn't matter as we always enjoy our "treat in the north". As usual everything was as expected.....faultless, if you have never experienced the peace and tranquility of this part of the world you are missing out big time. I f you can live with the odd sheep baa, the odd woodpecker pecking and the very occasional fox walking past you like you don,t exist then you like me will fall in love with this place. Whilst writing this I noticed that a previous reviewer was having a whinge about the staff, I think he needs to leave the funny powder alone as the staff consists of the owner, the lovely Michelle, who is about as laid back and attentive as they come and as for rushed.....giv ower as they say up here (translation is available). One of the reasons we love this place is the slow relaxed pace of life, I appreciate that some people who go away can not switch off and relax and need all of the modern distractions such as social media every five minutes or mobiles ringing all the time and wall to wall Wi Fi but come on if you cant live without that then try not to make it a major issue and critisism. If you need one more reason to come to Chatton get out a map or google (depending on your age!) and just look whats within a small radius here, Seahouses, Wooler, Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle and the unbelievable beach....the list just goes on and on. Before I go I must mention the breakfast, the quality and choice is fab and you can sit and ponder all the options and hand the menu requirements in the night before and the anticipation of whats to be put in front of you is almost unbearably nice.

We stayed here on the 3rd October as a birthday treat. I had no idea where we were staying and on arrival I was suitably thrilled to see such a beautiful house. We were met at the door and made to feel welcome, given a tour of downstairs and then shown to the Chillingham room. The room was gorgeous, very comfortable and cosy, with everything you would need, including a fridge, hairdryer (with diffuser which was very useful for my curly hair :-)), beautiful bathroom and luxurious bath products. The bed was so comfortable that we both had such a good night's sleep that we were awake early, ready for the delicious full Northumberland breakfast. All in all a fabulous place to stay, with lovely welcoming hosts, fantastic food and excellent guest amenities. My birthday weekend was made extra special with the night spent in this lovely place, thank you.

We stayed here from 26th- 29th October as a 'babymoon' and had a wonderful time:) the rooms were lovely; spotless and huge (we stayed in the alnwick room), with robes and slippers. The bed was also enormous and so comfy - we both slept so well. What makes this place though are Paul and Michelle. Both are lovely and welcoming and can't do enough for you. It was no trouble at all for them to make restaurant reservations and upon arrival we were given tea/coffee and cake in the lounge which was such a nice touch. The breakfasts were also delicious - we had an array of things throughout our stay including the cooked breakfast, crumpets and scrambled egg on toast and all were fantastic. Would definitely recommend and we will be back if in the area again. Many thanks to Paul and Michelle for such a lovely break.
