Overview

Sitting beside the Doctor Who Experience on Cardiff Bay's swanked-up Discovery Quay, The World of Boats is a bit of a mecca for anyone with a penchant for life at sea. It has the UK's largest collection of historic vessels and explains the evolution of boats from the earliest dug-outs to today's modern crafts. The museum educates its visitors on how boats have influenced culture, trading and history around the globe through a series of interactive exhibits. Touchscreens and special displays unravel the mysteries of propulsion and navigation and the workings behind some of the most famous ships in history. As a bonus, on the boat lab you'll get the chance to watch an old ship being restored (and learn about the difficulties along the way and how a boat actually works). A fascinating morning or afternoon for curious kids (and grown-ups) with enquiring minds.
