Overview

Kynren transports its audiences on an unforgettable journey spanning 2,000 years. Rebellions, wars, magic, majesty, celebration, and heartache are vividly portrayed in this dazzling outdoor theatre spectacular.

The award-winning outdoor show celebrating the story of England is set to make an explosive return this summer to 11 Arches Park, Bishop Auckland, for nine performances on Saturdays from 19th July to 13th September 2025.

Performed by a 1,000-strong cast and crew on a 7.5-acre outdoor stage. Set against the magnificent backdrop of Auckland Castle, County Durham, the show begins at dusk and ends in starlight. 

This epic tale follows a young boy, Arthur, on his spellbinding journey through time and is packed with pomp and pageantry, thrilling choreography, amazing stunts, incredible equestrianism, world-class special effects and pyrotechnics.

From Boudicca’s defiant stand against the Romans to the drama of two world wars, through Vikings, Tudors, and the poignant tale of Charles I, Kynren is a family-friendly spectacle that captivates from start to finish. With vivid storytelling, heart-stopping special effects, and cinematic grandeur, this mesmerising performance promises laughter, tears, and awe-inspiring moments for all ages. An epic adventure starts here!

Gates are open at least two hours before showtime. Please plan your arrival time -  Up to 8,000 people attend each Kynren performance, though reaching the site on on the local road network is swift, it is impossible to whisk everyone in minutes before the show starts.(as is the case with other large-scale events with complex logistics). 

The organisers kindly ask guests to reach Security / Ticket checks at least 1-hour before the start of the Kynren performance.
