Discover the fascinating past of Hever Castle, childhood home of Anne Boleyn

Hever Castle, a romantic 13th-century moated castle, was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII´s second wife - inside there are prayer books signed and inscribed by Anne Boleyn. In 1903 the estate was bought by American William Waldorf Astor, who spent large amounts of money, and time restoring the castle. Collections of Tudor portraits, furniture, tapestries and other fine works of art are in display. Set in over 30 acres of gardens that include, an Italian garden, Rose garden and Tudor garden, also yew and water mazes, and herbaceous borders.

Hever Castle & Gardens also has a Historic House and Garden:

Perfect wedding venues by Dinah Hatch

"Basically, if a deeply romantic 13th century moated castle where Anne Boleyn grew up isn’t ringing your wedding bells, then frankly we’re questioning your conviction to wed. Hever Castle has oodles of magical wedding wonderstuff about it and for a select few months in winter (think low skies, gentle snowfall and carols perhaps?), you can swap vows in the castle’s Inner Hall. Ornate panelling and carved columns in Italian walnut surround you as well as antique furniture, centuries-old paintings and a roaring log fire. The Castle Great Hall, where Henry VIII dined when he visited Ms Boleyn, can be booked for your wedding breakfast."
