Hever Castle, a romantic 13th-century moated castle, was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII´s second wife - inside there are prayer books signed and inscribed by Anne Boleyn. In 1903 the estate was bought by American William Waldorf Astor, who spent large amounts of money, and time restoring the castle. Collections of Tudor portraits, furniture, tapestries and other fine works of art are in display. Set in over 30 acres of gardens that include, an Italian garden, Rose garden and Tudor garden, also yew and water mazes, and herbaceous borders.
