Probably most famous for its Glorious Goodwood event in July, Goodwood Racecourse is so much more than a horse racing track. With just lovely views across the Sussex Downs and the Solent, whether you are interested in racing or not is almost irrelevant – a trip to Goodwood is an event in itself. Train travellers arrive in Chichester and are carried by open top bus through the Duke of Richmond's rambling estate to get to the course where there always seems to be an atmosphere of jollity, everyone sporting panama hat and enjoying Pimms and ice creams. Each of the five day festivals has a great card with a super mix of group races and handicaps. Of course, petrol heads also love this venue as it hosts the Festival of Speed in June and the Goodwood Revival in September.
