Epping Ongar railway does a brisk trade in transporting 21st century punters back in time to the era of steam and tea served in proper tea cups. The volunteer-run heritage line operates steam and diesel hauled trains through 6.5 miles of picturesque rolling countryside in Essex. It starts with a trip on a vintage bus from Epping station followed by a relaxing steam journey though stunning forest and historic towns, all the while imagining yourself back in gentler times when railways had porters and buffet cars sold more than soggy panninis.
