Overview

If ever there was a great attraction to take dinosaur-mad children and adults alike, its Dinosaur Isle on the Isle of Wight. Designed in the shape of a giant pterodactyl, its vast collection of 1000-plus fossils were first brought together when 19th century naturalists made their startling discoveries about the existence of the dinosaur – and their prevalence on the Isle of Wight. But this isn't just a dusty old museum, oh no. You can sign up for guided fossil and landscape walks with experts and go looking for dinosaur trackways on Shanklin Beach, find out what a herbivore's breath smells like, design your own stegosaurus or simply have a rest and a cuppa while the children get busy in the marvellous activity room with painting, dinosaur books and the like.
