Overview

A refuge for seals in distress along the Cornish coastline, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary close to the Helford River in Helston is also home to otters, penguins and ponies, making it a lovely day out for families and animal lovers. Meet Snoopy, Ray , Lizzie, Marlin and their fellow grey seals (including poor Flipper whose lungs were affected by pollution so badly he can never return to the ocean) plus Noito, Diego and Andre the Patagonian and Californian sea lions (feeding time is great fun here) and Babyface the common seal, who has lost an eye but is being rehabilitated. Once you've met this lovely extended family, take a walk in the gorgeous 40 acre grounds (look out for the woodland squirrels darting about) and soak up the sun or treat yourself to a hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream at the Seal Sanctuary café. Other bonuses include a rock pool, the woodland quiz trail and the great gift shops.

Reviews

This centre have seals all year round and you can see them, especially during the feeding time. You can also see penguins, sea lion and otters. It's in a beautiful place (forest & meadow) where you can relax. It's perfect for families with children. You learn all about Cornish wildlife.

Environmentally friendly. Well kept, reasonable prices on entry and refreshments. Caring staff - very friendly and informative. All animals appeared well, safe, fed well and contented. Carrying on fine work for over 50 years.

A truly 'touching' experience. The staff are caring and loving in the way they care and interact with the seals, sea lions, otters and penguins. Very informative and a truly wonderful experience.
