Overview

Experience the breathtaking views of Corfe Castle Discover the rich history that is imbued into the ruins of Dorset's Corfe Castle, from the sibling struggle more than 1000 years ago that ended in Ethelred the Unready's brother Edward being murdered to its defiant stand against Cromwell which ended in its destruction by Parliamentarians in 1646. This was once the strongest fortress in Europe and was even entrusted to guard the Crown Jewels back in the 12th century. Take the kids around the ruins and tell them to look out for the torture hook, murder holes and arrow loops that illustrate the castle's dramatic and often gruesome part in British history.
