Overview

Britain's Finest in conversation with Artelium

Where is Artelium located?

Artelium Wine Estate is located in the heart of the Sussex countryside, with the rolling South Downs providing a striking backdrop to the vineyard. The estate sits in the middle of Sussex Wine Country, close to the charming village of Ditchling and is within easy reach of the town of Lewes and the city of Brighton.

Details on what activities are available at Artelium?

Artelium Wine Estate invites visitors to discover the vibrant world of modern English wine through guided vineyard tours and tastings that showcase why the South Downs is one of the most exciting regions in English winemaking. Guests can wander among the vines, learn about the craft of viticulture and the history of English wine from Artelium’s knowledgeable hosts, and pause to admire striking art installations set within the landscape.

The experience continues in the estate’s chic tasting room or, if the weather allows, out on our sun-drenched terrace overlooking the vines — the perfect setting to savour three of Artelium’s exceptional, award-winning still and sparkling wines. Throughout the tasting, hosts share insights into the Sussex grapes and winemaking techniques that make these wines unique.

Visitors can extend their experience with a meal in Artelium’s relaxed restaurant, where the menu celebrates the finest seasonal Sussex produce. Dishes feature bold, natural flavours — from locally sourced beef and South Coast seafood to Sussex cheeses and vegetables from the estate’s own kitchen garden — all perfectly paired with Artelium wines.

Artelium also hosts a year-round programme of cultural events, including creative workshops, art exhibitions, talks, and special wine tastings.

Whether visiting for a hosted tasting, an alfresco lunch, golden hour drinks or one of our summer BBQs, guests are invited to slow down, savour the moment, and experience the artistry of English wine at Artelium.

Things to do in the local area?

Artelium's surrounding area has a wonderfully rural feel, with country parks and nature reserves near by that are perfect for exploring with the family. There are also a number of interesting surrounding towns and villages.

Artelium is based in Streat, very near Ditchling - a charming village with a strong artistic community. With over 40 listed buildings in Ditchling, there is history on every corner. Surrounded by Sussex countryside, and just fifteen minutes’ drive from the sea, Ditchling makes a fantastic base for a walking or cycling weekend, or just a lazy couple of days away, pairing vineyard visits with stunning South Downs walks.

The town of Lewes is also near by (20 minutes by car, 40 minutes by train), offering a host of independent shops & restaurants, an independent cinema and Charleston museum.

Brighton & Hove is a 30 minute drive away, offering a vibrant array of sea-side tourism activities along with a rich restaurant scene.
