In the heart of Dedham, The Sun Inn has been a watering hole for villagers and resting post for travellers for centuries. These days, it’s much the same. An ideal spot to revive yourself be it with a pint of craft beer, a meal using fine East Anglian produce or a good night’s sleep.
Seven beautiful en suite bedrooms, all individually decorated with sumptuous beds and linen, free WI-FI, Roberts DAB radios, digital televisions and other treats. Whether it’s because of the Brinkhaus pillows and duvets on Vi Sprung mattresses, large showers with Abahna toiletries or the chiming of the church bells, your batteries will be truly recharged whichever room you stay in.
Indulge in food influenced by season, locally grown and convivially served. Graze in the bar, feast in the dining room or take a picnic while you explore. Our menu varies throughout the month with produce off Mersea day boats, meat from rare breed animals, wild game in season and vegetables and fruit the morning they’re picked. Buttermilk pudding with Eric’s rhubarb, dark chocolate torte with Hadley’s ice cream, our freshly baked bread before your meal and scones and cakes with afternoon tea. On Sundays a delicious roast is served alongside our full menu and a kid’s menu or smaller portions are available at weekends and school holidays.
Discover nature, history and landscape along the banks of the Stour and through Dedham’s vale. Hire cycles, go boating on the Stour, we can make you picnics or just amble back for afternoon tea. Village beauty salons or golf courses nearby, riding and other restaurants to eat in. Further afield there is Lavenham and Long Melford for antiques and more, or beaches and sea at Frinton and Mersea.
