The Lake Isle Hotel is situated in the pretty market town of Uppingham, (home to the famous Uppingham School) close to Rutland Water. The entrance to the building, which dates back to the 18th Century, is via a quiet courtyard where a wonderful display of flowering tubs and pretty hanging baskets. Inside the bedrooms (named after famous French wine regions) all is chic modern comfort: muted caramel colours, cool stylish lamps, complimentary sherry and fresh fruit. Most rooms overlook the courtyard and the cottage suites are particuarly peaceful. The 2 AA Rosette Restaurant concentrating on food that is all about good textures and intense flavours. The service and presentation are also immaculate.
