West Holmhead Cottage is located in a scenic part of Galloway, alongside an organic farm and many square miles of grassy hills and woodland. The cottage is a stone building that dates back to the eighteenth century and has much of its original character, including oak beams and sloping floors, while pine furniture makes for extra comfort and a wood stove can be used for meal preparation. As there are many cycle routes nearby the cottage has its own storage for bicycles, and some of the wildlife that inhabit the area include red squirrels, deer and otters. Galloway Forest Park is a short drive from West Holmhead Cottage, as are Castle Douglas and the Solway Coast.
