The famous turreted Upton Cressett gatehouse in a beautiful Shropshire setting has been featured on the cover of Country Life. Similar to the Sissinghurst Tower, this unique and luxuriously appointed romantic hideaway where Prince Rupert stayed - which sleeps two or four - is available for mini-breaks or let by the week/month. The Gatehouse is self-catering but a butler, maid and cook are also available. Additional property available for nanny/children. The unique and ultra private historic property with its own drive and entrance gates features two octagonal turrets, thick Tudor brick walls, an oak carved spiral staircase, and rare sixteenth century ornamental plasterwork, and is ideal for exploring the heart of England. Prince Rupert took refuge in the Gatehouse; others who have stayed in the Gatehouse include prime ministers. Close to gastro capital Ludlow, the ruins of the Abbey of Much Wenlock (voted Britain's second most beautiful town), the Severn Valley steam railway and the Dower House Garden of Morville Hall.
