Old Quay House’s 'Q' Restaurant certainly makes the most of its location. Charming views of the Fowey estuary, a sun terrace and menu that explores the fields and waters of Cornwall are the main attractions here. Smartly turned out with dark wood furniture, black napkins and high-backed chairs, the dining room serves up simple bistro-style food that allows the locally sourced ingredients to strut their stuff. Start with grilled local sardines with pine nut and celery salad before tackling the grilled rump of lamb with smoked aubergine puree and olive crushed potatoes. Rhubarb trifle tempts among the desserts. The well-priced wine list is helpfully divided into styles with Old and New World choices side by side.
