A white washed 16th century house is home to this family run village pub and restaurant. Old oak beams, flagstone floors, blazing log fires and comfy leather armchairs create a traditional and welcoming atmosphere. Three separate dining areas, including an airy conservatory, are available as well as the garden in fine weather. The kitchen not only sources the freshest local seasonal ingredients, but is also aware of the importance of traceability and sustainability of these products. Bread is baked on the premises, and there is a smoking kiln. Smoked eel with homemade horseradish sauce followed by ox tail and kidney pudding, new potatoes and minted peas exemplify the classic English cuisine. An extensive wine list, including many fine wines, offers choices both in taste and price.
