This gentrified English Inn is housed in a 16th-century Cotswold stone cider house. Despite the ubiquitous inglenook fireplace and flagstone floor, this is no average country pub. Suitably styled for the well-heeled local population the civilised restaurant boasts an impressive wine list to pair with its upmarket, local menu. Starters include braised Cotswold hare linguine or duck rillettes with crispy skin, char grilled heart and chutney. The a la carte mains are dominated by hearty and fashionable combinations such as slow roasted Gloucester old spot belly or Cotswold lambs liver with champ. Also serving as a village pub and inn, dinner guests sit amongst the locals and tourists in the friendly bar or spill out into the courtyard garden and village green.
