A cosy bar welcomes you as you enter this weather boarded pub in the Sussex countryside. The main dining area shares the same rustic charm albeit with a contemporary edge with its chunky wooden tables fashioned from enormous tree trunks. This leads out onto a covered terrace and colourful gardens making it an attractive spot for al fresco dining. A large blackboard announces daily specials or there is a regularly updated a la carte menu to choose from. You could start with home smoked and cured duck with orange and walnut salad followed by wild sea bass with preserved lemon and fennel and tarragon risotto. As something of a house special, the apricot, walnut, ginger and toffee pudding is an understandably popular choice for dessert.
