From humble beginnings Ben McKellar’s small culinary kingdom has grown to include four restaurants of which the unassuming Gingerman was the first. A stylish yet intimate restaurant a short distance from Brighton’s seafront, the Gingerman delivers tasty food made from top notch ingredients. Impeccably presented starters can include seared Rye Bay scallops with pumpkin puree, sage beurre noisette and pumpkin crisps or the intriguing pheasant white pudding with creamed Savoy cabbage. The mains continue to reflect the commitment to modern British cuisine with a rack of Sussex lamb with artichoke puree, fondant potato, roasted Jerusalem artichokes and Madeira. Desserts strike a traditional note with sticky date pudding with toffee sauce and clotted cream or lemon drizzle bun, filled with lemon curd, with poached quince and quince syrup.
