The Dower House Hotel is an 18th century guest house and a romantic rural getaway in the Scottish Highlands, north west of Inverness. The interior is homely yet a little grand like the living room of a well travelled aunt, it is filled with Persian rugs, Chinese vases, Victorian furniture, flowers cut from the garden, and a stacked bookshelf. The restaurant’s three course gourmet menu created using locally sourced produce, including some herbs and vegetables from the restaurant’s own garden. To start you may be given roasted quail on a bed of bulgar wheat, seared scallops with a rosemary and anchovy dressing finished off with a hot raspberry soufflé. Dower House is child friendly and little ones enjoy making use of the swings and treehouse in the garden.
