The colourful hanging baskets which grace the front of this former coaching inn give an indication of the vibrant menu on offer. Inside you will find everything you would associate with a 15th-century building from low beamed ceilings and oak panelling to leaded windows and sizzling log fires. You can imagine the odd highway man or two propping up the bar in days gone by but the food is bang up to date. Expect to find dishes like Cornish crab wonton with celeriac remoulade, coriander and poached rhubarb jelly to open a meal. This could be followed by a confit of pork belly with black pudding breaded cannelloni, creamed corn and apple. There is also a pleasing list of wines available to go with your meal.
