A solid stone inn from the 1870’s is now home to this award-winning restaurant with rooms. Two simple but airy dining rooms off the main corridor signify that this is a local restaurant and not a trendy gastropub. Tony Binks, chef proprietor, is deeply committed to the local provenance of his ingredients to the point of purchasing a local pig each week. Traditional British cooking with classical French techniques produces starters such as twice baked Cheddar cheese soufflé or a main course of grilled pork loin steak with white bean, tomato and vegetable stew. Brioche bread and butter pudding with crème anglaise or a cherry and kirsch crème brulee wave the flag for desserts while strong wine list offers a good choice from both Old and New worlds.
