Mind your head on the beautiful old beams of this 300 year old, modest detached home as you enter and take a seat in this intimate restaurant run by husband and wife team Michael and Susan Sharpe. The décor is simple and homely with clean cream walls, crisp white linen tablecloths and a smattering of watercolour prints and fresh flowers adding a splash of colour. The no-nonsense modern British cuisine menu changes monthly and incorporates seasonal produce and classic home-cooked dishes. Steamed smoked haddock with poached egg and watercress sauce and grilled fillet steak with melted Cashel Blue are put together with a subtle finesse. The wine list is equally well-constructed with a good range of surprising finds at reasonable prices to encourage experimentation.
