Scutchers has been serving up consistently good quality, modern cuisine in the pretty village of Long Melford for over twenty years. The decor is a mix of traditional and contemporary, where bold print wallpaper contrasts with original fireplaces and exposed beams and crisp white linen, lit candles, gleaming glassware and cutlery providing the finishing touches. The food is as good as the service with starters ranging from pork and chicken liver country pate with homemade piccalilli to 30 grams of grade 1 caviar with diced onion, soured cream and toast. while mains could feature confit of duck Gressingham duck leg with garlic sausage, flageolets in a thyme gravy or fillet of turbot grilled on a rosti with a tartare butter sauce.
