A stone’s throw from Padstow harbour, this laid-back café puts Rick Stein’s years of culinary globe trotting to good use. Open from breakfast through to dinner, the menu takes in flavours from around the world. Start the day with huevos rancheros (Mexican tortillas with fried eggs and tomato chilli sauce), before moving on to lunch options such as garlic soup with hot smoked pimenton. Dinner could begin with a salad of salami and prosciutto with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes, followed by aubergine curry with chilli, tomato and kaffir lime leaves. The global wine list has plenty of options by the glass and there’s a nice children’s menu to keep the little nippers quiet. Staff are praised for their friendliness, but beware that Rick Stein’s celebrity status means queues are common.
