Overlooking the fishing port, the Magpie café is housed in a smart black and white building with stone steps up to the entrance. The dining room, which has a view over the busy harbour is simply furnished with round wooden tables and red leather chairs. Fresh local ingredients which include the finest fish and seafood, are sourced on a daily basis for the menu of unfussy, simple dishes. Fish of all kinds is fried in the finest batter to produce classic fish and chips while the menu might also offer a starter of pan seared scallops on lentils with pancetta and smoked paprika followed by wild sea bass with merlot steamed mussels.
