King William, 36 Thomas Street, Bath, Bath & Northeast Somerset

The King William is the kind of pub most would love as their local. The light bar and burgundy snug is filled with small tables, which get cleared to make way for the evening’s drinkers. Dinner is served in the charming, eclectic dining room upstairs. The menu is essentially British but full of adventurous touches which elevate it. Bar meals include cider steamed mussels with triple cooked chips, where as the restaurant menu offers up the likes of rare sirloin of English beef with braised shin; home-glazed ham or pan roasted gurnard, fish soup, purple sprouting broccoli and aioli. Meat is free range or organic, seafood is delivered daily from the Cornish coast. There's a tempting wine list as well as ales from local microbreweries and proper Somerset cider.
