Hereford Road is Notting Hill’s answer to legendary ‘nose to tail’ London restaurant St John; head chef Tom Pemberton used to run the kitchen at St John’s Bread & Wine in Spitalfields. Transformed from an old Butcher’s Shop to a modern chic eatery, the restaurant has an open plan kitchen and minimalist decor. Expect robust, unfussy British cuisine. Committed carnivores will be pleased to know the kitchen is determined to make good use of the whole animal with dishes like lamb’s sweetbreads, breast, green beans and mint as well as calf’s kidney, fried potatoes and watercress. Portions are generous but if you can find room for dessert try the old school favourites such as Eton mess or rice pudding and rhubarb.
