Martin Laurentowicz and Nick Wallace worked in some of Edinburgh's best restaurants before heading south to run this established neighbourhood bistro. The decor is clean and simple with art work adding a splash of colour to white walls and bare wood tables and banquette seating providing a casual yet comfortable setting for chef Nick's modern European dishes. Start with a classic and seasonal plate of asparagus with a poached egg, rich mousseline sauce and tarragon crumb followed by confit pork belly with broad beans, king oyster mushroom and apple and thyme jus. There's steak for meat lovers and spinach and ricotta dumplings for vegetarians. The concise wine list offers exceptional value and a bargain mid-week set menu features selections from the a la carte.
