The Fox & Hounds sums up what pub dining should be about, large portions of good quality local cuisine, served up in warm, comfortable surroundings by attentive staff. This lovely country pub, in the pretty village of Hunsdon, has a bar, lounge as well as a more formal dining room and a heated, covered terrace. The decor is old fashioned, with period furniture sourced from antique markets and a centrepiece chandelier in the dining room. The modern European menu is simple yet sophisticated as evident in the fillet of wild line caught sea bass served with aubergine caponata and rocket and the Old spot pork loin with mash, button mushrooms and pancetta. The Fox & Hounds serves ethical fish and chips with homemade tartare sauce to take away every Thursday/Friday.
