Dew Pound is a 16th century country house restaurant located in the hamlet of Old Burghclere, some six miles south of Newbury. The period features and original oak beams are given a contemporary feel with the use of vibrant artwork and black leather chairs. The raised decked terrace out the back provides charming views across the pond to Watership Down and Highclere Castle. The menu changes daily with the availability of local, seasonal produce. Try the oak smoked salmon, prawns, salmon rillettes, caviar, cucumber and lemon dressing or saddle of local roe deer, creamed potato, savoy cabbage, chestnuts, shallots and a port wine sauce. There is a well thought through wine list with plenty of finds for enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike and plenty of dessert wines by the glass.
