You probably won’t have eaten in an Indian restaurant quite like Anokaa. Service in the contemporary dining room with its polished wood flooring and high backed leather chairs comes from waiters in full Indian dress. The menu is far from that of a local curry house. Indian methods are applied to local ingredients which are plated in a European style to create a modern hybrid but one that retains the authentic flavours of the sub continent. Start with spiced crusted scallops served with a fresh and aromatic grape and ginger dressing and a tangy gooseberry salsa, followed by Mumbai style stir-fry Welsh lamb with fresh coriander, garlic, red onion and peppers served with mossala mashed potato. Don’t miss the seafood tandoori specialities that include spiced and roasted whole John Dory served on a bed of pine nuts, peppers and yoghurt.
