This magnificent Georgian house is the former country home of Lord Mountbatten. Now it’s home to the accomplished modern British cooking of chef James Chapman. With its contrasting cream and aubergine tub chairs, dark wood panelled walls and porthole style circular mirrors, the dining room is contemporary elegance personified. Dishes might include a starter of spiced chicken liver parfait with Cumberland sauce and toasted brioche followed by roast rump of lamb, thyme fondant potato, carrot puree and creamed Savoy cabbage. In the smart contemporary brasserie, there's a global menu with the likes of slow cooked lamb shank tagine with coriander, chick peas, dates, pine nut and saffron couscous.
