Tom Aikens Restaurant

CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT, PLANNING TO RE-OPEN MID NOVEMBER 2011. From the striking black and white Anoushka Hempel-designed dining room to the seven course “Classics” tasting menu, this restaurant is all about modern fine dining. Foodies will appreciate the individual cooking style features complex assemblies created from riffs on a single ingredient such as a dessert of lime confit with lime purée and lime marshmallows. Presentation is arresting, with streaks of sauce and dots of purees and jellies forming abstract works of art on the plate. Look out for the assiette of pigs head, a long standing signature dish of the chef. Service can be on the formal side but Irish sommelier Gearoid Devaney brings warmth and humour to the proceedings. The set lunch is an affordable way to try out the restaurant.
