The Ubiquitous Chip Restaurant
There’s lime and vanilla mash, potato fondant and roast garlic crushed potatoes but not a chip in sight at this ironically named Glasgow stalwart. Eat upstairs, downstairs or in between on the mezannine level, but grab if you can a table in the gorgeous courtyard. A plethora of fine Scottish ingredients are used imaginatively in dishes such as Dumfriesshire rabbit, pear and pistachio nut sausage with basil cabbage or Perthshire wood pigeon wrapped in bacon served with a rich game sauce and pearl barley. Traditional accompaniments include clapshot (mashed swede and potato) and stovies; a kind of Scottish take on pomme boulangere. For the terminally thirsty, there’s a "big pub", "wee pub" and "corner bar" all on site.
