The Swan at Southrop
This ivy clad village green inn is owned by chef Sebastian Snow and wife Lana. The couple trained with Anthony Worrel Thompson and ran a number of successful London restaurants including Snows on the Green before relocating to the Cotswolds in 2009. Stone floors, simple wooden tables and chairs and white painted walls hung with colourful modern art make for a cosy environment in which to enjoy the Mediterranean-influenced food. There's carpaccio of veal with tonnato dressing, capers and basil to start followed by roast fillet of halibut with chorizo, sweetcorn, scallions and guacamole. The interesting wine list is well worth investigating and there's a bar menu for those in search of a lighter dining experience.
