St Petroc's Bistro

If you can't get into TV chef Rick Stein's famous Seafood restaurant, then walk a few yards up from the harbour to his buzzy bistro. Simply laid bare topped tables, white walls hung with modern art and a polished wooden floor make for a casual atmosphere where you can enjoy classics like Bayonne ham with celeriac remoulade and rib eye steak with béarnaise sauce and chips. There's plenty of fish on the menu as well of course including fillet of sea bass with roasted fennel and tomato and Stein's own version of the classic nouvelle cuisine dish escalope of salmon with sorrel sauce. There's a terrace for al fresco dining in good weather and kids order from a special menu that includes real fish fingers, mushy peas and thick cut chips.
