Simply Poussin

Once upon a time, this used to be renowned New Forest chef Alex Aiken’s gastronomic head quarters. Now, with an expanding empire that includes the imposing Le Poussin at Whitely Ridge, this charming courtyard restaurant has been simply transformed from formal dining room to bustling brasserie with stone floor, bare tables and Lloyd Loom chairs. Of course there’s poussin on the menu - the cheekily titled "Chicken and Chips" is in fact poussin breast stuffed with chicken mousse and served with the breaded leg on pea puree with chunky chips. But you’ll also find Aitken’s signature fungi in a dish of fillet of beef topped with sticky oxtail served with wild mushrooms and red wine sauce.
