The Shibden Mill Inn

There’s a choice of experiences at this charming 17th century inn. Downstairs in the cosy bar with its red painted walls and corner banquette, there’s an extensive menu that covers “grills” such as Gloucester Old Spot pork chop with sage mash, shallot sauce, “traditional” dishes including fish pie with herb and cheese crust and red cabbage and “British bites” which might translate as a Round Green Farm venison pie served with red currant compote. Upstairs in the elegantly beamed formal dining room, the al a carte menu might kick off with ballontine of local chicken filled with chorizo with a , chicory and sesame salad followed by roasted Gressingham duck breast with a sarladaise potato cake and cassis sauce.
