Sangster's

Chef Bruce Sangster is an Olympian – of the culinary persuasion of course. Former captain of the Scottish Culinary Olympic team and a National Chef of the Year, there’s no lack of skill here. The modestly proportioned, comfortable dining room provides the backdrop to a menu that celebrates the best of Scottish produce at every turn. Twice baked cheese soufflé is made with mature “cheddar” from Tobermoray; pan seared halibut comes on an Arbroath smokie, leek, potato and bacon chowder while roast loin of venison is accompanied by Scottish girolles mushrooms. The interesting, well priced wine list reflects Sangster’s passion for the subject and includes lesser known bottles like Picpoul de Pinet from Hugues de Beauvignac.
