L'enclume Restaurant with Rooms

The pretty village of Cartmel used to be known as the home of sticky toffee pudding. Now thanks to this former 12th century blacksmiths (L’enclume is French for anvil) it’s more likely to be known as the home of “hot cheese cake in the style of nobody”. That’s just one of the many humorously titled dishes at this serious fine dining restaurant where progressive cooking is on the menu. Chef Simon Rogan uses flowers and herbs such as sweet woodruff and myrtle to bring the surrounding country side into his food that features unusual flavour combinations such as Scottish langoustines with plaintain and roquefort purée, lychee and coconut.
