The terrace overlooking the river at this delightful fine dining restaurant is a wonderful spot for a summer lunch. Inside there’s river views too from the elegant but relaxed dining room. There’s a Pacific Rim accent to chef Julia Storey’s accomplished cooking. Starters such as grilled asparagus, deep-fried duck egg, Vietnamese mint, caramelised cashews, chilli lime dressing or carpaccio of tuna, pickled carrot and fennel salad, wasabi crème fraîche, mirin and sake vinaigrette demonstrate a pleasingly catholic approach to the used of ingredients. Lovers of offal will appreciate a gutsy main course of millefeuille of lambs’ kidneys and sweetbreads served with a white onion purée, celeriac fondant, garlic and parsley.
