You get a double helping of Simons at this vegetarian restaurant in Manchester’s outskirts in Didsbury. There's co-owner Simon Connolly and chef/owner Simon Rimmer who'll be familiar to many from his regular television appearances. There’s an enticingly buzzy atmosphere in the cosy dining room with its bentwood chairs and red Perspex table coverings. Food is eclectic to say the least, with a menu that ranges from a Thai-spiced potato cake served with Asian coleslaw to Irish stew - a meatless version than replaces the lamb with aubergines. You’ll not wish to escape without a sweet of coffee and mascarpone tiramisu or raspberry crème brulée. Wines from the short list are a well-chosen bunch at reasonable prices.
