Said to be in the UK’s top five Italian restaurants, Firenze is a homage to Florence by owners Lino and Sarah Poli and is as sophisticated and stylish as the city itself. It oozes Italy, not only in its looks but also in the menus. Lino has several styles: simple crostini with chicken livers, roasted vegetables, spaghetti and breaded pork escalope for lunch or on the set menu. The kitchen switches up a gear on the a la carte menu with veal sweetbreads with sage and Parma ham or suckling pig with fennel seed. Yoghurt and rhurbarb tart or Brachetto (sparkling red wine jelly) may well be too tempting to pass up at the dessert stage. The mainly Italian wine list offers fifteen choices by the glass.
