Edenwater House
Former Edinburgh chef-restaurateur Jacqui Kelly now runs this stone manse (cleric's house) hotel in the Borders, complete with its own trout steam. The set four course dinner is served at 8 pm sharp in the tiny restaurant and may include seared scallops and foie gras, breast of guinea fowl with a tarragon mousseline followed by a twice baked Roquefort soufflé with a fruit terrine with coconut ice cream providing a sweet end. Alternatively, you may encounter Borders lamb with a redcurrant sauce, local Eyemouth halibut or a bitter chocolate tart with a surprisingly different ginger and avocado ice cream. Husband Jeff’s hobby is wine so expect some eclecticism within the list.
