Emphasis is placed on the talents of chef Jacqui Kelly in this elegant, rural retreat whose restaurant is open to guests and non-residents by appointment. The attractive, candlelit dining room overlooks Eden Water and the Cheviot hills, where Kellly serves a limited but well designed and executed three-course menu. Influenced by the advance requests of diners you could sample delicate Parmesan-crusted monkfish tails with pickled vegetables, celeriac purée and chicken stock sauce; squab in a morel sauce with pommes Anna, grilled Serrano ham, sweet potato and glazed chicory and bitter chocolate tart with avocado and ginger ice cream. A short wine list is available or bring your own for a small corkage charge.
