Beaujolais
Owner Jean Pierre Auge has been entertaining his regulars with his bad jokes for over thirty years and has helped to make Beaujolais a perennial neighbourhood favourite. The restaurant has been given a new lease of life by a recent refurbishment and a new young Italian chef in the kitchen. Unfussy but delicious dishes such as chicken liver parfait with apple and pear chutney and brioche or a delicately poached brill with cep mushrooms, saffron potatoes and cavalo nero cabbage are made with fine ingredients cooked with care. Fan lights give the comfortable dining room a bright airy feel, but on a sunny day, go for a table on the small terrace. Take the family for Sunday lunch and the kids can order off their own special menu.
