With its taupe and caramel leather chairs, banquette seating and transparent wall of wine, Abode packs in so much contemporary style that you'd never guess you were in a hotel dining room. There's substance here too in the form of the highly accomplished modern cooking overseen by double Michelin starred chef Michael Caines. Galantine of quail is the expertly boned bird stuffed with chicken, quail and tarragon mousse and served with gently poached baby leeks and a perfectly poached quail's egg. Sirloin of Kent beef is full of gutsy, meaty flavour and comes with a silken potato puree spiked with horseradish. Service is professional but never less than friendly. Enjoy an appetif before your meal in the buzzy champagne bar.
